When you deployed, what could have made it a little better on you and your family back home?
We're a military family and are trying to help out those who are deployed, whether in a small or big way. My husband and I have been talking about possibly starting a charity to help out deployed troops, but just about everything morale-wise I can imagine is either already taken care of by the MWR or the USO. So, I need some ideas. When you were deployed, what could have made it better that someone back home could help out with? I'm thinking along the lines of something people can donate, and we can either give to families who have deployed spouses/dads/moms, or to the person deployed. Or even a pen pal service? Any ideas, even if they don't seem relevant to what I've written here, will be taken to heart. I haven't been deployed yet, so I need a point of view from those who have been. Thanks for any help! :o)
