I need help finding a Viet Nam book.?

This is the third time I've submitted this question. I keep forgetting to extend it. "Doh!". Anyway, I'm looking for a book about a picket boat captain off the coast of Viet Nam during the war. He was either a LCDR or a full CDR, I don't remember. He was assigned picket duties, but kept putting his vessel in harm's way when he shouldn't have. He got involved in live-fire exercises putting his ship in the line of fire, going on unauthorized patrols looking for a fight to get into, etc. He bought outlandish things for his own personal use aboard ship, like a toilet seat that was a different color than the covers in all the other heads aboard ship. He bought special food for himself like lobster, filet mignon and the like out of the crew's MWR funds. This guy was a piece of work. He had no business commanding a naval vessel. He'd do better with a rubber boat in his bathtub. His favorite term was "audacious". He said all good officers should be "audacious" and have "audacious" plans. He was about as "out there" as Captain Queeg in 'The Caine Mutiny'. If someone is a Viet Nam buff and can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. I cannot, for the life of me think of anything else. Wish I could. I've been looking for this book for about 30 years now.
